Chris Hull Memorial Sigma Pi Open
It was another great outing for the players and guests of the 10th anniversary of the Chris Hull Memorial Sigma Pi Open. The day started with weather that could not be better. After a catered breakfast in the 19th hole, blue skies and temperatures in the mid seventies invited the tournament participants to bring out their ‘A game’. After Friday’s rain, the Blue Course at Penn State was in tip-top condition. Lush green fairways seduced each drive but dense rough wreaked havoc on approach shots. The contest was on as Sigma Pis and Fremont-sters alike vied for the winning score. At the turn, players were treated to boxed lunches for a needed boost of energy and play continued with talk of finishing scores in the 60’s.

How Has Sigma Pi Influenced You?
Thank you to our alumni members who recently responded to let us know how Sigma Pi has influenced their lives. Here’s what a few brothers had to say about their time in the fraternity:

Craig D. Womeldorf ‘87: “Sigma Pi gave me real experience in working with people of diverse perspectives.”

Raymond H. Harris ‘58: ‘The fraternity had the greatest effect on my social skills, smoothing the rough edges.”

Robert J. Cubbison ’56: “[I] met some great men that remain good friends today. During our younger years following college we drifted apart into military, family and business. Later in life it’s a kick to reconnect. We may look and feel different in our 70’s but the twinkle in the eye, spirit and friendship remains very much alive.”

Joshua Gorelick ’06: “As sage, I was always motivated to make the house better for the actives, alumni and university. Now that I am in a management position at a Bar/Brewery near Fenway Park in Boston, I use that same motivation to make better beer and food products for my guests. I don’t think I would have the drive for excellence without my experience in Sigma Pi.”

There’s Still Time to Add Your Name to the 2008-09 Honor Roll!
The end of the giving year is fast approaching on August 31! Be sure that you’re listed on the next published Honor Roll of Donors by making your donation before the giving year ends.

A few of our donors recently shared the influence that the fraternity has had on them, and why they support Sigma Pi in their alumni years:

• “My best friends are my fraternity brothers.”
• “Sigma Pi has allowed me to be a strong relationship builder, which has helped me in my career. More importantly, it’s allowed me to be a happier person.”
• “I would say the fraternity has completely influenced the person I am today.”

Hasn’t Sigma Pi had a similar impact on you too?

Let us know the ways it has – and make your annual fund donation – before the giving year ends August 31.

Give Us the Gift of Email
With the cost of a hard copy newsletter being approximately 50 cents to print, and the price of a postage stamp now at 44 cents, it costs approximately $980 to mail each edition of our printed newsletter.

Interact with Sigma Pi Brothers
We’re excited to introduce a new place in our new alumni community, where you can interact directly with groups of Sigma Pi brothers. You can participate in the brotherhood community, create a new group for you and your friends, or join an existing one! Within each group’s page, the members have control over the content. You can upload and share links, videos, photos, events and comments with other members. Create and/or join as many groups as you’d like...such as a group for your pledge class, another for alumni in your major/career field, and maybe another for brothers in your state/region.
