“After having the sorority girls over for chicken and tatter tots and then taking them a glass of beer to get them loose. Then they would not finish the glass and put on the rail. After they were gone the brother would slam the 3/4 full glasses and get blasted.” - Lynn E. Kyle, ’75

"Orchid Ball of 1946. I was still in the Navy, stationed in D.C. Herb Currie made a large batch of his infamous Currie Punch. Many of the Brotherhood and guests, including two head coaches who shall remain nameless, were well "under the weather" when the party ended." - Frank C. Fryburg '49


Describe your favorite/best road trip

"I returned home from the Navy in August, 1946  and was advised by my Brother, George, who had been chosen to represent Theta Chapter, that we were heading to Ashville, N.C. for Sigma Pi's first post-war convocation. It was a most impressive event and created within me a strong interest in our Grand Chapter. From 1946 thru 1980, I attended every convocation ( a total of 19 )." - Frank C. Fryburg '49


What is the one memory you have shared or will share with your children or grandchildren?

“Graduating from PSU with the ceremony being held in the original Beaver Stadium. My parents were there and so was my soon to be bride.” - Frank Della Penna, ’56

“Penn State in the winter after a new snow walking up to the library.” - Louis Kaplan, ’64 

"My most memorable event was in 1962- French Lick, Indiana---I was elected Grand Sage of Sigma Pi. My Brother, George, was there along with our two wives. And the 1978-Sevens Springs, PA.--I received Sigma Pi's Founders Award. All four of my children as well as George and some of his family were in attendance. Also receiving an award was Dr. George L. Haller ( Theta ), who served as our faculty advisor while I was at Penn State and who later founded the Aerospace Division of G.E." - Frank C. Fryburg '49
